Questions and Answers
- What is fly fishing?
Fly fishing is about imitating an insect using artificial fly to entice a fish to strike. Mastering the casting technique is crucial, with the main casting weight being a special fly line that allows the lightweight fly to be cast at distances of up to several dozen meters. The main methods of fly fishing include nymph fishing, wet fly fishing, dry fly fishing (from the surface), and streamer fishing (imitation of a fish).
- When is the best time for fly fishing?
The best season for fishing in southern Poland runs from April to November, or even December. During the warmest months, early mornings and late evenings are the best. On rainy days, fish can feed intensely throughout the day. In autumn, the best times are usually around noon, when the water is at its warmest.
- How to start your fly fishing journey?
If you don’t have your own equipment and want to see if you’ll like it, sign up for an all-inclusive fishing trip where we provide all the necessary equipment and teach you step-by-step. If you want to start with your own equipment, choose a starter kit with a 9-foot (approx. 270 cm) #5 weigth rod, properly selected line and a fly reel. A set of basic flies is best chosen by a specialist in fly tying, known as a flytier. Sign up for fly fishing course to quickly master basic casts, tackle handling and catch your first fish without unnecessary frustration.
